“This is the T-shirt we’ll be wearing this summer, in aid Harry Becher’s Too Many Women fundraising campaign for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Harry has created a network of 201 female ambassadors, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Wimbledon winner Serena Williams, who are raising funds this year, and asking nine other friends to do the same. Genevieve Chapman’s group asked artist friend Vanessa Garwood, who trained in Florence and exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, to make a glamorous daub on a white cotton T-shirt, £27, to raise money”.

ORIGIN68 T’shirt o’clock

Hi, Origin68 ran the first shirt off the presses in May 2007 having been knocked around as an idea down the pub some years earlier. We yearned for a day when wearing a t-shirt allowed us to express a response to our environment, surroundings, society and hopefully make us look half decent whilst we did it. For us, wearing a t-shirt is more than just a fashion statement, it pretty much defines who we are. We don’t do gimmicks, we don’t ride trends, we don’t do big logo’s. We think people deserve more than that. Origin68 isn’t just about tshirts, it’ our philosophy. We are always on the look out for any kind of collaborations or what not, so if you think you may have an idea then drop us a line. Thanks for looking.

BEYOND THE BUMP WITH MEPOD MATERNITY T-SHIRTS

mepod is a new range of designer maternity t-shirts that are designed to put a refreshing new edge into maternity wear.

mepod1

Launched online on 14th May at www.mepod.co.uk, mepod t-shirts feature a
stylised baby that expresses women’s interests pre-pregnancy – focusing on activities and indulgences that go on hold for nine months.

Whether it’s the putting a halt to gym membership, parking up the bike, missing a ski season, or simply craving a daily coffee fix – the tees provide women with a stylish slogan t-shirt with designs that are worn on the bump – far beyond anything else in the maternity market.

mepod’s creator Lucy Sibbald commented: “The aim with mepod is to create a brand of t-shirts that you would consider wearing even if you weren’t pregnant. My major gripe when I was carrying my two littlies was the lack of excitement surrounding the clothes out there – mepod is something we want women to look forward to wearing. Loving sport pre-baby, I also wanted people to know that I did ‘stuff’ too it was just on hold, and mepod does just that, letting women give an insight into their lifestyles and giving them an identity beyond the bump – the ‘me’ behind the pod.”

mepod2

mepod talks beyond natural birth versus epidural, breast versus bottle – topics that so often consume mother-to-be – mepod is about the woman behind the baby bump and the life they will bring to their child.

mepod t-shirts retail at £30 – take a peek in the pod at www.mepod.co.uk
www.mepod.co.uk birth announcement: born on 14th May, 8.44am, weighs 400 KB, all vital sections functioning correctly, and mama doing well too.

Naketano: Cool materials and hot styles for the summer of 2010!

After this freezing cold winter one thing is crystal clear: a hot summer is in store for us! If you have not only set your sights on the perfect style, but also on the right materials, you are just right at Naketano.

naketanao

With light summer knitwear Naketano is extending its former collection, providing even more comfort on hot summer days: bamboo is the innovative natural fibre which cools in summer and warms in winter. Compared to cotton, clothing made of bamboo viscose fibre does not crease and can be ironed at a very low temperature. The material does not shrink when washing and is quick to dry.

The creative heads from Naketano in Essen have also worked on the cuts, patterns and colours. Naketano is becoming more and more feminin, featuring a great choice of dresses. Naturally, the “feel good” and individuality factor still have top priority. The new forms, such as A- and O-silhouettes, create a symbiosis of nonchalance and elegance. The same applies for the many female elements – smocking, gathers, box pleats, cording, volants and frills, to name a few.

The new collection is not missing the famous Naketano hoodies, neither. The Naketano colour-blocking hoodies are supplemented by rounder patches.

Last but not least, the collection is completed by light, waisted summer jackets made of soft polyester, as well as a partly smocked summer coat. The pleasantly soft jackets are available in three lengths (short, medium, long).

Flourishing fashion – with the Naketano summer collection 2010!

La Roux – style and sound

At last a worthy 80’s based music band with a worthy and updated fashion and image sense. A refreshing alternative to the hashed up and mashed up graphic artists and fashionistas who have tried but are just too young to get it right. Well I was there and I loved it. La Roux have managed to present the theme brilliantly and present a modern version. A sprinkling of design from the 20’s a spoonful of Mondrian block colours and many right angles with a touch of Bauhaus. Only a hint of the trademark shoulder pads evident.

October print Carl Froch T-shirts for OneTrueSaxon

Well quite a night was had by all at the Trent Fm Arena on Saturday when Britain’s Finest, Carl “The Cobra” Froch fought and successfully beat Andre Dirrell. Carl and the whole Team Froch Crew were completely kitted out by ONETrueSaxon®, along with many, many very passionate fans who had donned their Team Froch limited edition T’s. ONETrueSaxon have produced the Team Froch Official Merchandise and created their ‘Super Six Printed T’s’ to celebrate Mr Froch’s inclusion to the tournament, which are available now from ONETrueSaxon.com.

Carl Froch T-shirt

click here - Carl Froch T-shirt Style

Carl was finally allowed to enter the ring around 2.40 Sunday morning to a reception fit for a conquering hero, which of course he is. Flanked by his brothers Lee and Wayne with the WBC Super Middle Weight belt held aloft, Carl swaggered to the ring adorned by his OTS designed gown featuring the brand new Team Froch logo heavily embroidered across the back, once in the ring and once the deafening cheers and “Welcome to the jungle,” by Guns n Roses had died down, he revealed those shorts!

The shorts had been 9 weeks in the making, from initial sketch on a “post it” whilst having a chat with him, to CAD layouts and then to final heavily detailed hand guided embroidery. Featuring on the right leg our very own British bulldog “Winston” and the ONETrueSaxon logo, and then underlined by the OTS tagline which has become synonymous with Froch “Undisputed . . . NEVER DEFEATED” The back of the shorts were equally as impressive. They featured the redesigned CF Union Crest and flanked by two striking cobras in silvers and grey.

Carl, his corner men and his team certainly looked the part and certainly didn’t disappoint once the action got underway, true Dirrell came to spoil the fight by holding, complaining and skipping backwards to avoid Carl letting go of the “tools of the trade”, his fists, you could see how nervous he was but this was because he knew he was no match for Carl’s power. Carl’s win was no surprise and now he marches on to meet Kessler in Copenhagen in the spring,.

However, before that he has the less dangerous but equally exciting task of becoming ‘The Face of OTS’. He will be featured in the new Spring Summer 10 Product Guide and the Advertising for the next year. We’re all admirers of Carl not only in the ring but how he deports himself in general. A truer Gent we’ve never met and as such he’s a great fit for the understated but powerful style which is part and parcel of our Brand’s DNA.

Things look very positive for ‘the Cobra’ and very positive for ONETrueSaxon®

“ We make a living out of what we get, we make a life out of what we give.” Winston Churchill.
( the man not the dog). Carl gives his all and is the very epitome of Onetruesaxon®

October print New Deadmau5 merchandise

deadmau5

Designed by Hannah Morrison, in a departure from the usual band merchandise, bamboo fabric T-s were printed using soft water based inks to create a retail look for Deadmau5. The garments were then re-labelled and presented in organic canvas bags, also printed with water based inks.  In a music download culture, it looks like artists are not just recognising the increased importance of merchandise, but also wanting to present a high street quality product.

POLAR HAT SAVES THE UK

October have recently been commended by the Treasury, for minimising the adverse balance of payment deficit usually associated with chilly weather.

polar headgear

The continued availablity of their Polar Hat, in white, khaki, black and navy, is estimated to have enabled an additional 16% of otherwise very cold commuters to make it into work this week. Particularly at risk were workers with large heads and no hair, especially in the North East, where a T-shirt is considered an arctic perfomance life saver.
Dr Albert Hacket, on secondment from the University of Michigan, and at present in the October R&D department said, ‘This super warm quilted aviator style hat, is crafted from nylon supplex with a stainproof Teflon surface. It has been tested out of a van window at over 90 miles an hour into horizontal snow for two hours. If you can’t make it into work in one of these hats, you are without doubt a steaming great Nancy’

October T-shirt prints tested for wind resistance

The UK Bungee Club (UKBC) was established in 1992 and is the market leader for Bungee Jumping in the UK. As the pioneer of commercial Bungee Jumping in Britain, the UKBC now facilitates all jumps sold by Britain’s leading retailers and gift experience companies such as Boots, WHSmith, Buy a Gift, ExElement and Red Letter Days.

bungeeclub_lrg

click here - UK Bungee Club

With permanent venues nationwide the UKBC operates bungee jumps from both fixed structures and cranes. With the UK’s only bridge bungee jump, the UK’s only indoor venue and regular jump heights from 160ft to 400ft, the UK Bungee Club has unparalleled experience in bungee jumping activities.

The professionalism and excellent safety record of the company has led to the UKBC being first choice for television production companies and channels worldwide including Endemol, Tiger Aspect and Outline Productions to name a few, producing shows for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky, NBC and ESPN.  Working with over 200 charities both large and small the UKBC has facilitated and organised charity events raising in excess of £3 million for good causes.

During its existence and due to the nature of the work the UKBC has become involved with other activities acting as advisors as well as organising and running events such as abseils, zip wires, drop slides and adventure trips around the world.

In the 1990’s The UK Bungee Club was responsible for running one of the most famous permanent jump facilities in the world, Adrenalin Village, located at Chelsea Bridge in Battersea, London. A permanent feature on the London skyline UKBC’s 300ft tower crane dispatched 11,000 bungee jumpers every year over the Thames. Alongside this a floating hostel housed thrill seekers from all over the globe with a total of 100,000 people visiting the site in its final year of operation. This was also the venue for the qualifying rounds of The World Extreme Games in association with the television company ESPN, which the UKBC facilitated in 1995.

In October 2006 The UK Bungee Club secured the rights to jump from the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge. A milestone for Bungee Jumping in the UK – it was the first time that members of the public had been allowed to jump from a UK Bridge since members of Oxford University performed the first ever bungee jump in its modern form from the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol in 1979. On December 17, 2007, the UK Bungee Club bungee jumped American news anchor Anne Curry off the world famous Transporter Bridge to raise money for charity. Her jump was shown on the NBC news Today show at about 8:13 am Eastern time and went out live to 8 million people.

The UK Bungee Club also runs The Abyss @ Magna, the world’s only indoor bungee jump. Located and housed in the 150ft Face of Steel Building at the award winning Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham, a £46million Millennium project which opened in 2001. An extensive build project, The Abyss @ Magna opened in 2005 and has received national and international press coverage as well as being a venue for numerous TV and film projects. As a result The Abyss @ Magna was awarded the Best Tourism Experience 2006 by the Yorkshire Tourist board.  Working with the board and management of Magna, The Abyss has continued to progress with the installation of a new 250ft zip wire and a 150ft PowerFan descender, these activities were built alongside a new £2.7 million corporate development project at the centre.

October respects the DNA groove

English Modernism, American Ivy League, Italian cool – this is what has influenced my designs over the years and is what I’m dedicated to. Fashion was never what I sought, as it is Style that has always been my obsession.. Since 2001 Dna has been bringing it’s Italian made quality clothing online, making us the first all-Italian label selling men’s clothing on the world wide web.

DNA Groove
Limited edition, attention to detail, sharp styles, quality garments made by small, family – run Italian artisan companies, the true Manifattura Italiana. Roll collar button down shirts, fine merino wool unscructured slim cut Italian suits, flat fronted detailed trousers, fully fashioned quality knitwear, slim soled chisel toe quality leather shoes, cashmere chester coats, hand folded silk ties – a total look both for the discrete Gentleman and for the carefree Dandy.

dna02
Working with ethics has also been of great importance to me. I have always refused to work with sweat shops, re-cycling is constant, ways to avoid unnecessary waste are always kept in consideration, and have made customer care and satisfaction my priority.

I have now moved north of Barcelona, Spain, where I work from my showroom, often travelling to Italy to supervise production. A visit here is always welcomed so email me for arrangements. Girona airport is a huge Ryanair hub and is minutes away and there are regular trains to and from Barcelona”.

Garment printed by October for Chateau Roux and photographed by the legendary David Bailey

Garment printed by October for Chateau Roux and photographed by the legendary David Bailey, Speech Debelle graces the pages of January’s Vogue magazine wearing her unique ‘Speech Carves Paths’ grandad tee, designed for her after winning this year’s Mercury Music prize. October is a specialist fashion garment printer, working with a wide range of well known and emerging labels to produce innovative clothing. Our aim is to convey the spirit of the brand, while remaining ‘off message’ and one step ahead of the high street.

chat_vogue

Born out of Soho, Chateau Roux is an independent fashion label inspired by the mix of characters you see every day. Unashamed at being labelled ‘different’, the label is built on the idea of being totally bespoke and offering something you cannot get anywhere else. Chateau Roux have made their name by offering bespoke cut, printed and distressed garments that are emblazoned with bold and brave prints.

Chateau Roux represent a refined and elegant style but presented in a twisted, seedy and sharp fashion. The popular ‘Shotguns in Soho’ (SinS) collection is crafted using the brands unique eye for design and a 12-bore shotgun. Taken into the woods by Roux sharp shooters, each garment is shot from distance leaving it hole-ridden, often smoking with small pieces of ‘shot’ left embedded in the fabric and 100% unique. Each SinS tee stands alone and customers also receive the genuine cartridge used to shoot their garment.

As well as unique distressing techniques, all Chateau Roux tees are cut to best represent their style and printed on a range of fabrics including modal, bamboo and cotton to provide comfort and the beautiful ‘I’ve had this tee for years’feel.

T shirts, humanity and wisdom – Poor Righteous Students

Poor Righteous Students Clothing (”PRS”) is rooted in the concepts of humility, wisdom, and culture expressed through artistic designs and styles. Why the name Poor Righteous Students?

PRS10

The word Poor symbolizes the concept of humility and the need to stay grounded in a materialistic world. We feel that a person’s worth is not based on how much money they have, but what they do during their lifetime. The word Righteous symbolizes the idea of leading a life focused on doing good and increasing the good in the world. The word Students symbolizes the concept that a person never really ceases to be a student even when they become a teacher. If knowledge is infinite then the learning process never stops.

PRS7

 PRS4

The idea for Poor Righteous Students was born in February 2009 by Ben Jones and Kyle Mosley. Already friends from their college days at the University of Illinois, Ben and Kyle partnered up to merge their talents and create the PRS brand. Kyle had experience designing shirts for his own brand KMos, as well as for businesses and organizations within Chicago. Ben had aspired to create his own clothing and sneaker line in college, but never developed a concept that he could put his heart behind.
PRS1
After college they went in different professional directions, with Ben going to law school and practicing law for a firm in Chicago, and Kyle focusing on marketing and sales. In the early months of 2009 Kyle and Ben met and brainstormed ways in which they could merge their talents to create a new and unique brand. They realized that if they put their passions together, they could develop a culture through clothing that would encourage the minds of the masses.

Our garments are tailored to enhance and flatter, and each piece is meticulously cut from our unique and original designs in our Bondinage London studio. Often our clients request special ‘made to measure’ fits which we are happy to do.

About Stephen Fuller- Founder and Company Director

Stephen started the Latex couture label Bondinage in 2003 after a successful stint as a designer for the International fashion industry and his own label Stephen Fuller. Stephen, a St Martin’s School of Art Fashion Graduate, quickly gained a reputation for using innovative materials and decided he could best express his designs with the wonderful material of latex rubber. Since then he has dressed some of the worlds sexiest women and is continually designing and making outfits for the leading Pop Divas of our time. His latex clothing can be seen in some of the most popular pop videos around, and he is continually called upon to create new looks and come up with innovative designs that keep ahead of the trends. A pioneer of printing on latex sheeting, this concept has influenced many other design companies and is still utilised by Bondinage today. His Bondinage collections are at the leading edge of fetish fashion and have a cult following of inspirational, sexy, strong, feminine women.

“ The basic design ethos of my Bondinage collection is to create well designed, sexually liberating garments that evoke a high erotic charge. A woman’s body is beautiful and can only be further enhanced with the sensuality and flattery of beautifully tailored rubber clothing. ”  Stephen Fuller

Create a Cool Wet Ink Typography Effect in Photoshop

Follow this Photoshop tutorial to create an awesome distorted type
design. Using a range of Photoshop brushes we’ll create the appearance
of printed type that has come into contact with drops of water, breaking
up the text with oversaturated drips, runs and splats.

Ink typography design

I was recently out at the clothes store and came across a cool
t-shirt by Diesel. The design featured some nice typography that had
been treated to some image manipulation to give an awesome effect of wet
ink, as if the design has come into contact with drops of water that
distorted the print.

I remember originally seeing a similar design by Craig Ward, with his amazing ‘Ink and water don’t mix’
design. I’m not sure whether Craig was also behind the t-shirt art, but
I fancied giving the effect a go myself, so I booted up Photoshop and
started experimenting. Follow this walkthrough to see the simple steps
of creating a similar design, using ready-made brushes to distort some
typography of our own.

Start work in Photoshop by creating a new canvas. I’ve chosen to
create a landscape poster. Set out a phrase using a classy and
sophisticated font, such as Bodoni.

Split the words into their own layers and move them into position to
form a balanced layout, align elements of the words with the letters
above and below to give structure.

We could get our hands dirty and splash some ink onto some paper and
scan in the results, but instead we can take the easy route and use
ready-made resources from generous designers and artists. Scour the web
for collections of ink splatter brushes for Photoshop. Here’s the
selection I personally picked out:

Download and arrange the ABR files into a file. In Photoshop click
the tiny arrow in the Brushes palette and select Preset Manager then
load all the ink brushes.

Pick out interesting ink shapes from the various brushes and paint
odd splats and runs over the type on a new layer. Adjust the size of the
brush by using the square bracket keys.

Tailor the shape of the ink splatter towards a similar area of a
letter, so for instance if it’s a long ink mark, paint this over a
suitably long, straight letter.

Give some letters some major distortion by adding plenty of ink marks, but keep the words legible when viewed at 100%.

Some brushes in the set are created with paint brushes. Since this
design is meant to look like it’s naturally distorted by water drops,
just pick out the drops, splats and subtle drips.

You can reuse brushes while avoiding any repeating shapes by rotating
the brush in the brushes palette. Grab the circular crosshair to adjust
the angle.

When the design is nearing completion, download some spraypaint brushes to make use of tiny drips to add some little touches to the design.

Download a grungy paper texture
to add some visual interest to the background. Desaturate the image and
drop the opacity right down to 15% to leave subtle background tones.

Ink typography design

Take a look over the design at 100% and make any final tweaks. Adjust
