T-shirt Printing. It’s not just that screen printing by hand allows for greater control of print detail, as we can see here, it also allows for varied intensities of colour within the print.

Katie Scott ‘Minerals’ from 1ina100 on Vimeo.

It’s not just that screen printing by hand allows for greater control of print detail, as we can see here, it also allows for varied intensities of colour within the print.

The majority of pricing for screen print allows for a couple of straight pulls of the squeegee blade across the screen, but due to the large heart and the true craftsmen’s approach of our very own Matt, we spotted him layering up colours at no extra cost, with a slightly more freestyle and creative approach.

He’s a modest man, so we filmed him secretly, but hope you agree that our screen printers have a tendency to go beyond the call of duty…

Tee Hunter is Edited and run by Liam Thomson. He fanatically hunts down and showcases the most exceptional brands, designers and clothing collections. There is still a strong emphasis on tshirts on the site, which is in keeping with the heritage of teehunter.com. What originally started out as a fleeting passion project / tshirt design blog has blossomed into the site you see today. Largely because of the wonderful readers and brands who make this whole operation tick.

It’s not just your fashion types that are asking for bamboo T-shirts and nice soft discharge inks, oh no, even the students are onto it now…there was no sit in, no placards, and no chanting ’What do we want, organic T-shirts, when do we want them, now!’, but they did wander politely in with a specific screen print requirement, that suggested they had done their homework. And so the Loughborough University Windsurfing team ended up with the garment and ink technique that we would usually reserve for the streets of Soho, and rather lovely they looked…good luck lads, and try not to drown.

We have talked about it for a long time. In our 22 years of textile screen printing, here at the heart of the Lace Market in Nottingham, we have watched the disappearance of our garment manufacturing industry. At it’s lowest point we lost 6-800 jobs a week, and we went from being able to make any garment of our choice , to being able to make almost nothing. That wrong is being slightly righted today, with the first prototypes of our Made in England sweatshirts and hoods.

Knitted in Nottingham by Dave, brushed in Nottingham by Howard, manufactured in Nottingham by Hilda, and screen printed, embroidered, badged and labelled in Nottingham by us here at October Textiles, we have a product that from start to finish is crafted within a five mile radius – the quality, heritage and tradition of British manufacturing, with the carbon footprint of a small mouse.

Let us know your thoughts.

Many thanks,

Director
October Textiles Ltd.

“In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains and the sofa.
October specialise in fashion screen print, so it was always fairly unlikely that we would get involved with outdoorsy type brands.

As you may know, October specialise in fashion screen print, putting ranges together for the easy streets of Soho, where a hot skinny latte choccy mocha, is always to hand, so it was always fairly unlikely that we would get involved with outdoorsy type brands…it’s cold up there, on the hills, and windy, and well, cold.

But, we recently discovered that we are able to supply you with re-branded life saving waterproof things, that you can apply your own logo to, from the luminary likes of North Face, Helly Hansen, Sprayway, Mammut and Berghaus. Jackets, gilets, shoes, bags, anti polar bear pants, and all sorts of things that we can print and embroider, to keep the wind and the rain from whistling around your Trossachs. We don’t understand it all yet…700 fill goose down, with breathable Aquafoil two layered Gore-tex and Taslan fabrics, but whatever, let’s all hold hands and wander off, into the chilly willies..
