with MS Dynamite, Bitty McLean, Caspa, Toddla T and The Heatwave... David Rodigan MBE, Red Bull Music Academy and FABRICLIVE team up for a special night.

David Rodigan MBE, Red Bull Music Academy and FABRICLIVE team up for a special night with Rodigan and Guests, as well as a pre-event lecture session hosted by Benji B.

On Thursday 24th May Red Bull Music Academy and FABRICLIVE present Ram Jam – a night of explosive bass with gentleman rudeboy David Rodigan MBE at the helm. Bringing his coveted box of world-smashing dubplate specials and his inimitable command of the mic, expect a masterclass in crowd control-meets-dancefloor obliteration. Having cut his teeth playing youth clubs from the age of 15 and celebrating his 60th birthday last year, Rodigan continues to destroy clubs and festival stages the world over.

Followed by a roster of dancehall and dub-flavoured special guests, many of whom regularly feature in Rodigan’s frenetic sets, Ram Jam welcomes first lady of UK garage Ms Dynamite, Birmingham’s own lover’s rock hero Bitty McLean, with dubstep bigwig Caspa, BBC Radio 1’s Toddla T and the UK’s number one bashment sound The Heatwave completing the bill.

But before the bass even begins rumbling, Red Bull Music Academy presents an intimate conversation with David Rodigan in the club’s VIP Room. Taking in a career spanning 40 years, Sir Ram Jam himself will be talking to a lucky few about his love of reggae and roots, complete with classic tales of clashes and roadblocks, his times in Jamaica, plus a chance to view never before seen photos and hear the dubplates that remain ingrained in reggae folklore. The conversation will be led and hosted by BBC Radio 1 host and long-time Academy team member, Benji B.

The conversation with David Rodigan, taking place from 8–10pm, will be FREE, subject to limited capacity. Those wishing to stay on for the main event should purchase a ticket in advance from www.fabriclondon.com which will be exchanged for a wristband on arrival.

Many thanks to our good friends at www.filthymedia.com who have created the artwork for the 2 new prints, available from www.rodigan.com very soon.

We have talked about it for a long time. In our 22 years of textile screen printing, here at the heart of the Lace Market in Nottingham, we have watched the disappearance of our garment manufacturing industry. At it’s lowest point we lost 6-800 jobs a week, and we went from being able to make any garment of our choice , to being able to make almost nothing. That wrong is being slightly righted today, with the first prototypes of our Made in England sweatshirts and hoods.

Knitted in Nottingham by Dave, brushed in Nottingham by Howard, manufactured in Nottingham by Hilda, and screen printed, embroidered, badged and labelled in Nottingham by us here at October Textiles, we have a product that from start to finish is crafted within a five mile radius – the quality, heritage and tradition of British manufacturing, with the carbon footprint of a small mouse.

Let us know your thoughts.

Many thanks,

October T shirt Printing goes Carbon Neutral.

WEGO deliver your parcels and post with the greatest of care, paying close attention to the cost to your business and to the environment. It’s our business to find the best delivery solution to meet your business needs – and the needs of the world we live in. This means providing you with the most practical, cost effective, efficient and sustainable transport solutions. Day in, day out.

Our cyclists and electric and biofuel vans not only save you valuable time and money. They help to reduce your company’s carbon footprint. Previously known as Pedal Express, we have renamed ourselves WEGO Carbon Neutral Couriers to reflect our ethos and expanding fleet of eco-friendly vehicles. While we continue to use our original trademark bike and trailer option to courier small items locally, we use renewable energy when delivering further afield.

By bike or van, we aim to deliver when you want, where you want. And at a price you – and the environment – can afford.

Delivering door to door

Your company needs to be sure of a fast, secure and reliable delivery service.

That’s what we provide. When your call comes into our central Nottingham depot we find the best, quickest and most sustainable means of delivery.

• A small document to go across town is best taken by a cyclist; or a consignment of small parcels by bike and trailer.

• A large parcel to be delivered in the Nottingham area might go by electric or biofuel van.

• Or, delivering city-to-city, our courier might travel by bike, train and finally bike. Our speedy service to London for urgent, secure documents is invaluable for businesses, linking the capital to their doorstep. In mapping our journeys – many of which involve same day delivery – we look at speed and security, at reducing the impact of road congestion and at road miles.

We also have links with partner couriers for overnight or next day carrier solutions. This gives you lower cost choices such as sending an urgent parcel with other items going to the same destination. And our later collections or deliveries can effectively extend your business day.

Who do we serve?

WEGO customers include local authorities, solicitors, large corporate businesses and small sole traders. Trusting us to deliver their single items or large, multiple deliveries, or provide a full post room service, leaves them free to focus on what they do best.

Proud to be carbon neutral

Our green courier solutions have successfully offset the small amount of carbon created by our activities. We believe that makes us the first carbon neutral courier business to be awarded an Offset Certificate in the East Midlands.

This has been made possible by our customers’ ongoing support and so our thanks go to organisations that use us to complement their ecofriendly aims and environmental policies. Nottingham City Council, for example, uses us to distribute books within their library service.

Socially responsible companies go green

We are all now realising that our activities at home and at work have an impact on the world’s finite resources. But everybody can make a cost-cutting contribution to being ‘greener’ and socially responsible.

Looking at the business case, WEGO director Chris Beattie explains: “A company using a diesel-powered vehicle only half a day for deliveries is a waste of resources. Yet they could reduce dependency on non-sustainable fuels by outsourcing deliveries – increasing their bottom line profit and being seen by their customers as socially responsible.

“New technology has created a virtual world where we can click and send, sell and buy. But in the real world we still need actual deliveries. WEGO works hard to meet that need in a resource-conscious way by using renewable energy and green technology. “Being carbon neutral is a big deal to me. Our efforts have put us in a ‘below average’ carbon footprint bracket for organisations in our sector and size. We’ve achieved that through using cycles, electric and biofuel vans.”
